Ligands

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006577

Atoms, ions, or molecules that donate at least one pair of electrons to a central metal atom or ion to form a coordination complex. These species bind to the central atom through coordinate covalent bonds, acting as Lewis bases. The number of donor atoms from the ligands attached to the central atom determines the coordination number of the complex.
