A stereodescriptor used in coordination chemistry to denote a facial arrangement of three identical ligands around a central metal atom in an octahedral complex. The three ligands occupy positions on one face of the octahedron. This is contrasted with the 'mer-' descriptor, where the three ligands are arranged meridionally.
