Facial cleft

A congenital malformation characterized by an opening or gap in the facial structures, resulting from incomplete fusion during embryonic development. These defects can affect the lip, palate, or other parts of the face. Orofacial clefts, such as cleft lip and cleft palate, are among the most common birth defects, occurring in approximately 1 in 700 live births.
