Facies
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004324
The characteristic facial appearance of an individual, the features of which are associated with a specific clinical condition or congenital syndrome. These distinctive facial traits, such as eye spacing, ear position, or philtrum shape, can result from genetic abnormalities or prenatal exposure to a teratogenic agent. A specific facies is a diagnostic sign, whereas a syndrome is the full collection of signs and symptoms that characterize the underlying disease or disorder.
