Facilitated diffusion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004325
A type of passive transport across a biological membrane where substances move down their electrochemical gradient with the assistance of specific membrane proteins. These proteins, such as channels or carriers, do not require metabolic energy for the transport process. Glucose transport into cells is a common example.
