Uphill transport
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012459
The movement of a substance across a membrane or barrier against its concentration gradient, from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration. This process requires an input of energy, as it is thermodynamically unfavorable. In polymer membranes, uphill transport can be facilitated by specific interactions or active transport mechanisms.
