Placental transfer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008992
The process by which substances move across the placental barrier from the maternal circulation to the fetal circulation, or vice versa. This movement can occur through passive diffusion, facilitated diffusion, active transport, or pinocytosis, depending on the substance's properties. The efficiency of placental transfer is influenced by factors such as molecular size, lipid solubility, and protein binding.
