Exchange diffusion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004167
A type of facilitated diffusion where the movement of one solute across a membrane is coupled to the movement of another solute in the opposite direction. This process does not directly consume ATP but relies on the electrochemical gradients of the participating molecules. It is a mechanism for transporting ions or small molecules across biological membranes.
