Transcytosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012205
A cellular process by which macromolecules are transported across a cell, from one extracellular space to another, within vesicles. This involves endocytosis on one side of the cell, movement through the cytoplasm, and exocytosis on the opposite side. It is a mechanism for transporting substances across epithelial and endothelial barriers.
