Exchange current

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004166

The rate of electron transfer between an electrode and an electrolyte at equilibrium, where the net current is zero. It represents the rate at which oxidation and reduction reactions occur simultaneously at the electrode surface. This parameter is a measure of the intrinsic reactivity of an electrochemical system.
