Electrode current density

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013059

The electric current flowing through an electrode divided by the geometric area of that electrode's surface. This quantity represents the rate of charge transfer per unit area at the electrode-electrolyte interface and is a key parameter in electrochemical kinetics. It is expressed in units of amperes per square meter (A/m²) and is used to characterize the performance of batteries, fuel cells, and electrolytic processes.
