Surface charge density
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011629
The quantity of electric charge present per unit area of a surface, denoted by the Greek letter sigma (σ). It describes how charge is distributed across a two-dimensional interface, such as the surface of a colloid particle or an electrode. The standard SI unit for surface charge density is coulombs per square meter (C/m²).
