Orofacial cleft
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008329
A congenital malformation characterized by a gap or split in the lip, palate, or both, resulting from incomplete fusion of facial structures during embryonic development. These conditions can range from a small notch in the lip to a complete separation extending into the nasal cavity. Orofacial clefts are among the most common birth defects, with genetic and environmental factors contributing to their etiology.
