Δ, Λ
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002848
Stereodescriptors used to specify the helicity of chiral coordination compounds, particularly those with octahedral geometry. The Δ (delta) descriptor indicates a right-handed screw sense, while the Λ (lambda) descriptor indicates a left-handed screw sense, based on the arrangement of chelate rings or ligands around the central metal atom. These symbols are analogous to the P and M descriptors used for molecular helicity.
