Dipolar bond
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003236
A covalent bond in which both electrons in the shared pair originate from the same atom, resulting in formal positive and negative charges on the bonded atoms. This type of bond is also known as a dative bond or coordinate covalent bond. An example is the bond between nitrogen and oxygen in an amine oxide.
