Bond orbital
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001419
A localized molecular orbital that describes the electron density specifically associated with a chemical bond between two atoms. These orbitals are typically formed by the overlap of atomic orbitals from the participating atoms. In valence bond theory, a bond orbital represents a shared electron pair.
