Molecular orbital theory
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007511
A quantum mechanical model that describes the electronic structure of molecules by considering electrons to be delocalized over the entire molecule in molecular orbitals. These orbitals are formed by the linear combination of atomic orbitals. The theory predicts molecular properties such as bond order, magnetic behavior, and spectroscopic transitions.
