Molecular orbital
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007510
A mathematical function describing the wave-like behavior of an electron within a molecule. This function indicates the probability of finding an electron in a specific region of space around the nuclei. Molecular orbitals are formed by the linear combination of atomic orbitals and can be bonding, antibonding, or non-bonding.
