Natural bond orbital
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007773
A localized orbital derived from a natural orbital analysis, representing the Lewis-like bonding structure of a molecule. These orbitals are constructed to maximize electron density within the bonds and lone pairs, providing a chemically intuitive picture of electron distribution. They are often used to analyze donor-acceptor interactions and hyperconjugation effects in molecular systems.
