Bond length
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001417
The average distance between the nuclei of two atoms that are chemically bonded together in a molecule. This equilibrium distance corresponds to the minimum potential energy for the system of the two atoms. Bond lengths are determined experimentally using techniques like X-ray crystallography or microwave spectroscopy and are typically expressed in angstroms (Å) or picometers (pm).
