Molecular spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007522
The study of the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and molecules, resulting in the absorption, emission, or scattering of photons. Analysis of the resulting spectrum provides information about molecular structure, energy levels, bond lengths, and chemical properties. Techniques are classified by the region of the electromagnetic spectrum involved, such as microwave, infrared, or ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy.
