Molecular switch

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007523

A molecule that can exist in two or more stable states and can be reversibly interconverted between these states by an external stimulus. These stimuli can include light, electric fields, pH changes, or the presence of specific chemical species. Molecular switches are key components in molecular electronics and responsive materials.
