Switch sequence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013625
A specific DNA sequence found in the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus that mediates class switching, allowing a B cell to change the type of antibody it produces. These sequences are located upstream of each constant region gene, except for the delta constant region. Recombination between different switch sequences results in the excision of intervening DNA and the expression of a new heavy chain isotype.
