Switchboard model
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011717
A model of polymer crystallinity in which all the crystallized stems of a chain belong to the same crystal, but the chain leaves the lamella and re-enters it at random positions instead of folding back into an adjacent stem. The loops at the lamellar surface are loose and irregular, like the tangled cords of a telephone switchboard. It contrasts with the adjacent re-entry model, in which regular folds link neighbouring stems.
