Chain folding

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001841

A phenomenon observed in crystalline polymers where a polymer chain reverses its direction and re-enters the same crystal lamella, forming a folded structure. This process allows long polymer chains to fit into ordered crystalline regions. The fold length is a characteristic dimension of these lamellar crystals.
