Folded-chain crystal
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004566
A type of polymer crystal in which individual polymer chains repeatedly fold back upon themselves to form lamellar structures. These crystals are characterized by a regular arrangement of chain segments within the lamella, with the folds occurring at the lamellar surfaces. This morphology is common in semicrystalline polymers and contributes to their mechanical properties.
