Fold surface
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004564
The external boundary of a polymer lamellar crystal where the polymer chains undergo a reversal in direction, forming loops or re-entering the crystal. This surface is typically less ordered than the interior of the lamella and can contain amorphous chain segments. The nature of the fold surface influences the interaction of the crystal with its surroundings.
