Lamellar crystal sector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006430
A portion of a lamellar crystal, usually grown from solution, that is bounded by a well-defined crystal face and indexed by that face, such as the {110} and {200} sectors of a polyethylene lozenge. The fold plane in a sector is normally taken to match the bounding face, so each sector corresponds to a fold domain. The lattice stays continuous across sector boundaries, since the sectors belong to one crystal.
