Electric sector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003640
A component in a mass spectrometer that uses an electric field to deflect ions based on their kinetic energy. It consists of two curved plates with a potential difference between them, allowing ions of a specific kinetic energy to pass through while others are filtered out. This device is often used in conjunction with a magnetic sector for double-focusing mass spectrometry.
