Mass spectrometer focusing system

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006996

The assembly of a mass spectrometer that separates ions by their mass-to-charge ratio and brings each group to a focus at the detector, for example a magnetic sector, an electric sector, or the two combined in a double-focusing design. Lenses placed between the ion source and this assembly only shape and accelerate the beam and do not sort ions by mass.
