Magnetic sector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006911
A component in a mass spectrometer that separates ions based on their mass-to-charge ratio by deflecting them through a magnetic field. Ions with different mass-to-charge ratios follow different curved paths, allowing for their spatial separation. This device provides high resolution and accurate mass measurements, making it suitable for precise isotopic analysis and structural elucidation.
