Electrical anharmonicity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003641

The deviation of the dipole moment of a molecule from a linear dependence on its normal coordinates. This property influences the intensity of vibrational transitions observed in infrared and Raman spectroscopy. It is a measure of how the electrical properties of a molecule change non-linearly with atomic displacements.
