Electrical arc
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003642
A continuous, high-current electrical discharge that occurs between two electrodes, creating a bright, hot plasma. This discharge is characterized by a relatively low voltage drop across the arc column and high current density. It is frequently employed in analytical chemistry for atomic emission spectroscopy, providing a powerful excitation source for samples.
