Atomic emission spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000891
A spectroanalytical technique that measures the intensity of light emitted by excited atoms in a sample to determine elemental concentrations. Atoms are excited by a high-energy source, such as a flame, plasma, or arc, causing them to emit photons at characteristic wavelengths. The intensity of the emitted light at a specific wavelength is proportional to the concentration of the element.
