Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006460

An atomic emission spectroscopic technique that uses a high-energy pulsed laser to ablate a small amount of material from a sample, creating a plasma. The excited atoms and ions within this plasma emit light at characteristic wavelengths as they return to lower energy states. The emitted light is then collected and analyzed to determine the elemental composition of the sample.
