Laser ionization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006461

The process of removing one or more electrons from an atom or molecule using energy from a laser beam. This can occur through single-photon absorption or multiphoton absorption, depending on the laser intensity and wavelength. It is a key technique in mass spectrometry for generating ions.
