Laser beam ionization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006456
The process of generating ions from a sample by directing a focused laser beam onto its surface or into a gas-phase analyte. The laser energy causes excitation and subsequent ejection of electrons, leading to the formation of charged species. This technique is frequently employed in mass spectrometry for sensitive detection of compounds.
