Laser microprobe mass spectrometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006464

A mass spectrometry technique that uses a focused laser beam to ablate and ionize material from a microscopic region of a solid sample. The ions produced are then introduced into a mass spectrometer for analysis, providing elemental and molecular information with high spatial resolution. This method is closely related to laser desorption ionization.
