Time-resolved laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013658

An analytical technique that involves creating a plasma on a sample's surface with a focused laser pulse and analyzing the emitted light at specific time intervals. By using a gated detector, the initial, intense continuum emission from the plasma is ignored, and the analysis focuses on the later, sharper atomic emission lines. The delay times between the laser pulse and data acquisition are typically in the range of microseconds.
