Background continuum emission

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001075

A broad, continuous emission spectrum observed in analytical spectroscopy that is not directly related to the characteristic emission lines of the analyte. This emission arises from processes such as recombination of ions and electrons, or bremsstrahlung radiation within the plasma or light source. It contributes to the overall signal and must be accounted for in quantitative analysis.
