Inelastic electron scattering background
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005810
The continuous background signal observed in electron spectroscopy, such as Auger electron spectroscopy or X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, arising from electrons that have lost energy through inelastic scattering events within the sample. This background typically appears at lower kinetic energies than the characteristic peaks. Its shape provides information about the electronic structure and density of states of the material.
