Secondary electrons
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010611
Electrons emitted from a material surface as a result of inelastic scattering events with incident primary electrons or other energetic particles. These electrons have relatively low kinetic energies, generally less than 50 eV. Their emission is a common phenomenon in electron microscopy and surface analysis techniques.
