Secondary ionization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013532
The process where ions are produced as a result of collisions between primary ions or electrons and neutral atoms or molecules. This phenomenon is distinct from primary ionization, which is caused by the initial energy input. Secondary ionization often occurs in plasma environments or during the passage of high-energy particles through a gas.
