Emission

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003847

The process by which an atom or molecule releases energy, typically in the form of electromagnetic radiation (photons), as it transitions from a higher energy state to a lower energy state. This can occur spontaneously or be stimulated by external radiation. The emitted radiation has a characteristic wavelength or spectrum.
