Emetic

A substance that induces vomiting, often used in cases of poisoning to remove ingested toxins from the stomach. These agents act either directly on the gastrointestinal tract or by stimulating the chemoreceptor trigger zone in the brain. Ipecac syrup is a well-known example of a plant-derived emetic.
