Emesis

The forceful expulsion of the contents of the stomach through the mouth, also known as vomiting. This reflex action is a complex process coordinated by the vomiting center in the brainstem, which can be triggered by toxins, infections, motion, or irritation of the gastrointestinal tract. Emesis serves as a protective mechanism to remove ingested harmful substances from the body.
