Emergent properties
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003844
Characteristics of a complex system that are not present in its individual components but arise from the interactions among those components. These properties often appear at higher levels of organization, such as in a biological community or an ecosystem. For example, the stability of an ecosystem is an emergent property of its interacting species and abiotic factors.
