Reflex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010097
An involuntary and rapid response to a stimulus, mediated by the nervous system without conscious thought. This action involves a neural pathway called a reflex arc, which typically includes a sensory neuron, an interneuron, and a motor neuron. The patellar reflex, or knee-jerk reflex, is a common example of a monosynaptic reflex.
