Proprioceptor

A specialized sensory receptor located in muscles, tendons, joints, and the inner ear that detects changes in body position, movement, and muscle tension. These receptors provide information to the central nervous system about the orientation and movement of the body. Examples include muscle spindles and Golgi tendon organs.
