anti-Stokes type radiation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000714
Electromagnetic radiation emitted by a substance at a higher frequency (shorter wavelength) than the exciting radiation. This phenomenon occurs when the absorbing species is already in an excited state and transitions to a lower energy state, releasing energy in excess of the absorbed photon's energy. It is less common than Stokes type radiation, where the emitted light has a lower frequency than the absorbed light.
